Dear Lukey,
Happy 4 month birthday - sort of. You don't really get a legitimate 4 month birthday this month thanks to there being only 28 days...
So Luke, you are just getting to be more and more fun every day. You laugh all the time, never stop talking, and smile at everyone you make eye contact with!
I don't know why but for some reason you seem to like your dad more than me. I'm coming to terms with it...he can get you to laugh like no one else! You get SO excited to see him at the end of the day, and he plays with you for as long as he can when he's home.
Ashlee let you borrow Paxton's "bumbo" chair and I think it is in the Top 5 of my favorite baby inventions ever...right up there with the johnny jump-up and the nose-sucker :) You LOVE to be able to sit up like a big boy!
Your new favorite toy is paper...you could play with paper all day. Don't worry - I make sure you don't actually eat it...just suck on it and slobber all over until it shreds into pieces. You get so angry when I take it away from you!
You can roll half-way over now - and usually only when we put something that you want behind your head so you crane your neck up and that makes you turn part way. You still hate tummy-time - it's no wonder you won't roll over...you hate your being on your tummy!
You have started grabbing everything within your reach - and sometimes actually leaning to reach things too. Your newest discovery is your feet...you have actually managed to get them in your mouth a few times. It's actually quite funny.
You learned how to spit too - it's more like blowing bubbles and that "razz-ing" kind of sound. Your shirts are consistently wet because you are drooling ALL the time. I am a little nervous for what will happen when you are teething and have even more spit in your mouth!
Amber introduced you to Carmichael today - you now sleep with him every night and we are going to make you love him...Ambers demand :)
I also decided that it's more like we are buddies, than mom-son. You are one of my favorite people to hang out with, and I can talk to you about anything (only because you have no other choice...) and I just love to be around you!
You are so big, and so cute. I just love love love you!
Love,
Mom & Dad

3 months old!
i'm sorry if this "naked" picture offends anyone! ha ha i just had to show off his roll-y little body!
Dear Luke,
Happy 3 month birthday! I can not believe you are so old already. You get more and more entertaining every day. You started this great squeal thing - you sound like you training to be a raptor. It's hilarious.
You started actually liking toys about 3 days ago. Your Grandma Daley got you this bee-like toy that rattles and vibrates....Dad put it on your stomach and you were LAUGHING and LAUGHING. I don't know what it is, but your dad can make you laugh more than anyone else. I try all the same things he does and none of it works. You just give me that look of "what on earth are you doing mom?"
You also started doing this funny thing where you put your feet together so you're in like the butterfly position. It is so funny. My favorite though is when you try to sit yourself up. You HATE laying down. Almost as much as you hate Tummy Time. Tummy Time is always a chore. You last for like 45 seconds before you start kicking yourself sideways and grunting at me. Confession - I usually just watch you for a few minutes before I rescue you...it is just so funny!
You are starting to grab for things now too. Your favorite I think is to play peek-a-boo with yourself. When you have a blanket around you, you grab a hold of the edge and pull it over your face and back down again - for like 3 minutes straight. And for you to be entertained for more than 3 minutes is quite an accomplishment! Except when you watch TV....uh oh. Starting a bad habit already. When I start having guilt that you love the tv, I have you watch Planet Earth..then I feel like you're at least learning about penguins and polar bears, rather than just the Today Show or Oprah.
You are a little high maintenance in the car though. You feel left out when your dad and I put you in the back seat and leave you all alone. You just squawk and squawk until we get to wherever we were going. Unless we talk to you...that seems to help. Or, we give you your binkie and you latch on with a death grip to our fingers and not let go until we get to wherever we were going. I think it is security to know that we are still there.
You just make me laugh Lukey. Oh! I almost forgot...you LOVE to jump. as much as possible. We put you in this little jumpy thing that hangs in the door frame and you just scream and yell (the good yell, not the angry kind) and jump, jump, jump. It is so cute. Except then you get dizzy because you can't control which way you go. That makes you mad.
The other new thing you do is you like gurgle or something. You make this funny spitty noise in the back of your throat when you get excited...it's what happens right before you laugh.
You are the sweetest little guy ever. You love your dad - you get SO excited to see him when he is done with work. It is one of my very favorite things to watch.
We love you so much Lukey. You are a great little boy and I am loving watching every thing you learn. You are so curious and love to explore...I'm dreading what life will be like when you can explore places on your own!
Love,
Mom & Dad

replaced
*Disclaimer - do not read this unless you feel like reading the post from Debbie Downer. that's who i am today.*
i'm kind of going through this phase where i feel like i am replace-able. it's really not so great. i think maybe i haven't had a real blog in a while since i have nothing peppy or exciting to say.
feeling replaced is terrible. i go through this phase every once in a while. it's probably just a serious insecurity of mine...people leaving. weird because i've never had a real traumatic experience that included people leaving. apparently it's just a worry of mine.
It's nothing against the people in my life that find others to fill my spot, i just notice it seems to happen. more often than not. which leads me to wonder...is it me? well apparently, because it doesn't happen to everyone else i know.
best friends move on, find other, newer best friends. maybe i can convince myself that it's just the newness of the "new and better" friend that makes them so exciting. maybe it's the negative experiences between the "old" best friends that draw the line to a point of no return. maybe it's just the need for a change. maybe you were in their life only for a certain time, for a specific reason. they needed you for those days, weeks, months or years, and now your job there is completed so you can both move on. it always seems to be easier for one friend than the other i think.
how do you move on without seriously compromising the others feelings? how do they move on without seriously compromising yours? i don't know if that's possible. what do you do if you want to move on and they don't? or vice versa...
I don't know, i've just kind of been at a loss lately. i love my husband, more than anything. i love my little lukey - also more than anything. it's weird how that works. i love that cory has a job that supports our family. i love that i have a job that allows me to take lukey with me and work flexible hours. i know that i have a great life, and i am incredibly blessed. maybe i just still don't feel like it's enough. i don't know. loneliness is a weird thing. it seems to come and go in spurts. sometimes it's easy to handle, other times its not.
i miss my mom. i miss katy. i miss megan. i miss meagan. i miss nikki. i miss sister time with ambie. and here i am...my sweet baby is FINALLY sleeping - like two hours than usual...that means he'll sleep two hours than usual right? ha. cory is humoring me and letting me watch SVU - my favorite show. i have a great life. maybe i can focus on that and it will get me through this lonely spurt i'm having......oh and hopefully a happy post is on it's way.
